New Alliance Aims to Improve Quality of Long-Term Services and Supports

The Quality Alliance Steering Committee welcomes the Long-Term Quality Alliance (LTQA) as the newest organization dedicated to improving quality measurement and reporting in health care.  Founded by a group of the nation’s leading health, consumer, and aging advocates, the LTQA strives to ensure that the 10 million Americans needing long-term care services and supports receive the highest quality of care – both in community-based settings and in nursing homes. By working to foster “person-centered” quality measures, the LTQA will enhance quality of life, reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and utilizations, and decrease costs across the long-term care continuum.

The LTQA Board is chaired by Mary Naylor, Marion S. Ware Professor in Gerontology at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing. Dr. Naylor is joined on the Board by Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform Director Mark McClellan and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Director Carolyn Clancy – who also serve as QASC's co-chairs – in addition to leaders from organizations representing caregivers, consumers, quality improvement, private payers, and academia.
